About Faro Korean Restaurant

The allure of sizzling grills and the subtle aroma of marinated meats sets a distinct tone at Faro Korean Restaurant. Attention to detail shows not only through the quality of ingredients but also in the layout of the dining space, where intimate tables support a convivial atmosphere without overwhelming noise. Patrons flipping slices of pork belly or carefully tending to their bulgogi on the built-in grills seem to seamlessly blend dining with a shared cultural experience. Scanning through Faro Korean Restaurant reviews online reveals a general appreciation for this balance, though a few guests note that peak hours may test the patience of those less familiar with communal barbeque dining.

Spices and textures take center stage with dishes ranging from crisp kimchi to tender short ribs, each item on the menu thoughtfully composed. The Korean barbecue experience here invites guests to explore flavors while also offering a variety of banchan—side dishes—that each maintain their integrity without overwhelming the palate. Photos captured by diners often showcase vibrant plates and the lively act of grilling, providing a peek into the hands-on nature of the kitchen’s offerings. Yet, there can be moments where wait times between courses feel extended, subtly affecting the rhythm of the meal.

Good service lends itself to the overall dining outcome, and at this restaurant, staff are attentive though occasionally stretched when the room fills. The unhurried pace allows conversations to develop naturally over the course of the evening, creating an experience that extends beyond simply eating. Value here aligns with quality, though some might find prices a bit steep for casual midweek dinners. Those seeking a vividly authentic taste of Korean barbecue in Auckland may find Faro Korean Restaurant to be a worthy addition to their list, as both detailed photos and varied reviews reflect a genuine commitment to the culinary tradition without overly polished pretenses.

We ordered the four-person set menu, swapped the soup in the set for tofu soup, and also added cold noodles The flavors were generally great. the cold noodles were refreshing, and the tofu soup was comforting and flavorful. The marinated beef was great! However, the grilled pork belly in the set was a letdown. Since the other dishes were great, i would still give 4 stars for the food The portion sizes were a bit small. Only one of us actually felt full by the end of the meal. We were thinking of ordering extra meat, but the staff didn’t notice us. Then, we gave up and decided to just leave. The service was polite when we were able to get their attention. The owner was very humble and attentive to our feedback. Not a bad experience, but not something we’d rush back for.

I had the Tofu Stew Soup with Beef, others had it with Seafood. The stew was tasty and good value. They served this with six side dishes and purple rice. We also had the Beef Sizzling Plate and Bimbimbap which was a good size. Inside area was clean and tidy, service was fast during lunch time

The BBQ package was reasonably priced and quality of the meat was good. Their lunch meals are good too and so was the side dishes. You can get 1 refill of the side dishes free.

Paid NZ$48 for 2 persons dinner. The toufu stew soup and pork stew soup were tasty. The rice was soft. The side dishes were tasty too. However, service was slightly lacking - the inside of the cup was found to be oily and I have to ask for a change, then it was difficult to get their attention to top up the side dishes although only 4-5 tables were occupied and the printer was out of order when I asked for the receipt. I paid cash as there is a surcharge of 2.5% if pay by credit card.

Visited on A Friday night early. We hadn't been for awhile but it was still good. Great selection of different meat and sides, and always fun to cook food over the grill. Enjoyable tasty meal.

Came here for dinner and opted for their 'Set A' which was great value. We were seated in a booth before our reservation time and food was out quick. Served with a friendly manner - really enjoyed our dinner here!

Awesome birthday family dinner! My eldest granddaughter spent her 7th birthday dinner in this cozy, clean and nice place. As she loves to eat Korean barbecue, this was the top recommendation. This was our 2nd visit though as we also had lunch 2 years ago. Lovely receptionist and staff. Keep up the good work guys. Highly recommended

How does anyone beat Faro? The amount & quality of side dishes and flavours of their food is amazing. I've ordered Bulgolgi soup and Beef rib soup - both times the amount of meat was filled to the top (see the amount of bones left over in my soup) and so many veges hidden in the soup. Maybe I'm clueless but I'm surprised at the other low ratings. I came both times for dinner.
